Solanum tuberosum

Origin: Cornell University

Improvement status: Cultivar

Seeds per packet: One pound

Life cycle: Perennial, grown as an annual

'Adirondack Red' is a bright red skin potato with beautiful streaked pink-to-red flesh. This early- to mid-season potato gives good yields of mid-size, oblong tubers.

It was bred at Cornell Univeristy by potato breeders Robert Plaisted, Ken Paddock and Walter De Jong. It was released in 2004.

These seed potatoes were grown organically by our friend Jesse at Mythic Farm in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. They have been tested and certified for all potato disease requirements.

GROWING TIPS: From EFN co-founder Dusty Hinz:

"I like to plant potatoes a foot apart in rows that are three feet apart. I find it preferable to plant whole tubers rather than cutting them, especially for small to medium-sized ones, but I would potentially cut the larger ones for better bang for buck (if I had bought them).

Or, if I grew the potatoes, I would eat all the large ones and only plant small to small-medium sized ones and not cut them. Part of the reason we have selected the potato varieties that we have is that they are on the small to medium side of things and so most tubers will not need to be cut. If you do cut your potatoes before planting, do it 2-3 days before and as many as 4-5 days before, so as to allow them to harden off.

You can plant your seed potatoes two weeks before the last frost if you want, or anytime in the month of May is fine. Best to plant prior to June though (for Northern climates).

I have planted potatoes as much as one foot deep, though the internet in most places tends to recommend 6-8 inches or less. I have found that even at a foot deep it will shoot right up through the soil (particuarly if it is well worked) in no time. Planting this deep may allow you to not need to hill them up as soon, or as much. So sometimes what I have done is plant them one foot deep with the intention of hilling them possibly just once really thoroughly. But hilling 1-3 times during the season is standard practice if you wish. At a smaller scale it might be easier for you to hill multiple times.

If you are cutting your potatoes into relatively smaller pieces I would not recommend planting them as deep. A whole medium-sized tuber is going to have more strenth and can be planted deeper.

When you are hilling you can cover the entire plant with soil so you can no longer see it.

Harvest the tubers maybe about two weeks after the plants have died off. Watch out for heavy rains and water-logged soil that may make them begin to rot a little."

TAKE THE TRASH OUT !
Style: White Pine Breeze, Size: 50 Count (Pack of 1)
I recently bought the Hefty Ultra Strong 30 Gallon Trash Bags and I am thoroughly impressed with their performance. These bags are perfect for handling heavy loads and tough trash, making them ideal for both household and industrial use. The 30-gallon size is perfect for larger trash cans, and the drawstring closure is incredibly convenient. It allows for easy tying and carrying, without worrying about the bag breaking or ripping. The drawstring also ensures that the bag stays securely in place in the trash can. The black color is great for concealing the contents, and the White Pine Breeze scent adds a pleasant touch that helps neutralize odors. The scent isn't overpowering but does a good job of keeping unpleasant smells at bay. These bags are truly break-resistant, leak-proof, and puncture-resistant. I've used them for a variety of tasks, from yard work to cleaning out the garage, and they have held up beautifully without tearing or leaking. The strength and durability of these bags are evident, even with heavy and sharp objects inside. Overall, the Hefty Ultra Strong Trash Bags are an excellent choice for anyone looking for reliable and durable trash bags. They offer great value for the price, and their performance has exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone needing a strong, dependable trash bag!

Perfect for garage and kitchen
Package Size Name: Super, Size: 81 sheet (Pack of 12), Package Size Name: Super, Size: 81 sheet (Pack of 12)
These are easy the toughest paper towels that I have use so far. I have been using these for years and they are the best. I love the quality because they feel more like cloths than paper towels that are thin. They are great when cleaning up tough messes in the kitchen or garage. This is the perfect size thickness but yet light enough to handle perfect. These soak up water and messes like a sponge and hold them tight. As you can see these are bright white and I have them in the open on my kitchen counter and it blends in just fine especially for decorating. I have been using these paper towels for years now and the these really are a great value for your money especially if you clean up a lot. The quality is also perfect because each roll last me for about 3 weeks and I use them everyday for various messes. These are also easy to tear into small sheets with ease. They are tough enough to hold together and not just fall apart it easy enough to tear alone the seems. Each roll will last you a good enough long time which makes cutting down on cost easy. I buy the 6 pack and they last me for about 4-5 months. So I love the quantity. I would say these are a bit more expensive than the generic brands but they are worth it.

High quality - thick paper towels
Package Size Name: Super, Size: 81 sheet (Pack of 12)
This is a solid choice if you want something stronger and more absorbent than standard paper towels. They have a soft, cloth and works well for spills, wiping counters, and general kitchen cleanup, and they usually hold up better so you can use fewer sheets per mess. The paper towel is very thick and super convenient for multi use. This pack of 12 rolls is valuable but also slightly on the more expensive side.

Strong, Cloth-Like Paper Towels
Package Size Name: Super, Size: 81 sheet (Pack of 12)
I picked up the Viva Multi-Surface Cloth paper towels (task size, 12 super rolls), and they’ve quickly become my go-to for everyday cleaning. The biggest standout is how durable and cloth-like they feel. Unlike thinner paper towels that tear easily, these are thick and strong enough to handle tougher messes without falling apart. I’ve used them for everything from kitchen spills to wiping down counters and even light scrubbing. The task-size sheets are actually really convenient. You can use a smaller piece for quick cleanups, which helps reduce waste and makes the rolls last longer than expected. They’re also surprisingly absorbent. One sheet can handle more liquid than I expected, so I don’t find myself grabbing multiple sheets every time. That’s a big plus when you’re cleaning up bigger spills. Another thing I like is that they hold together well even when wet. You can rinse and reuse them briefly for certain tasks, which isn’t something you can do with most paper towels. If I had one downside, it’s that they’re a bit more expensive than basic brands. But considering how much you use less per mess, it kind of balances out. Overall, these are high-quality, reliable paper towels that feel closer to a reusable cloth than disposable paper. Great for anyone who wants something tougher and more efficient for everyday cleaning.
