GROWING GUIDE

Sowing:  Sow from March to May 3mm deep in moist, good quality seed compost and cover with sieved compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of 18-25C.  Germination should occur in 7-14 days. 

Growing: When the seedlings have emerged, gradually increase the ventilation by opening the propagator vents or the bag.  When large enough to handle, pot up into small pots (7-9cm) and grow on in cooler conditions in plenty of light but shaded from direct sunlight.  When the plants are large enough, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out, 45cms apart in a sunny spot in well drained soil.  Pinch out the growing tips of each stem as they grow to encourage bushiness and deadhead regularly throughout the summer.
