  • The Austral Gem Fern (Asplenium dimorphum x difforme) is a fantastic and relatively new Australian hybrid fern prized for its exceptional durability and unique, lush appearance. This medium-sized plant has a mounding growth habit and features uniquely shaped leaves with a waxy, thick coating. This special coating is the key to its resilience, as it prevents excessive water loss and shedding, making it far more adaptable than traditional ferns.

This makes it an ideal indoor plant and a great gift for any collection in virtually any climate. It grows relatively flat, making it a wonderful choice for placement on pedestals or in hanging pots where its rich, dark green texture can be appreciated.

Like all ferns, the Austral Gem Fern does not produce flowers. It reproduces via spores, which appear as linear patterns (sori) on the undersides of mature fronds.

  • Low to Medium Indirect Light. Prefers filtered or indirect light. Avoid direct, harsh sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, but do not allow the plant to sit in standing water. Due to its waxy leaves, it is more forgiving of drying out than most ferns.

Well-draining, moisture-retentive potting mix. A standard indoor potting mix with some added perlite or orchid bark works well.

    Warm. Prefers temperatures between 65°F – 75°F (18°C – 24°C). Protect from cold drafts.

This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with a diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Non-Toxic (Pet-Friendly). Safe for homes with pets and children.

  • Typically grown indoors, but is hardy outdoors in USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11.

Good book but quite repetitive if you read the 5 love languages.
Format: Kindle
Overall I do recommend this book but with a note of caution to those who have read any of the 5 love languages books. Nevertheless, the book still contained good advice for new parents. It’s appropriate to new moms and dads as well as those with toddlers (like me). But some parts will speak more to earlier parents while others to the later.
