Best Soil for Snake Plants: Fast-Draining Organic Mix for Healthy Roots and Happy Growth

Snake Plant Soil Mix Promotes Proper Drainage, Root Health, and Stress-Free Plant Care

Our Organic Snake Plant Soil Mix is specially blended for Sansevieria species and other drought-tolerant houseplants. Made with coconut coir, pine bark, sand, and perlite, it delivers airflow and fast drainage to prevent root rot and support healthy, vibrant growth.

Snake plants are a type of succulent plant that can withstand drought and don’t need as much water as other houseplants. They’re notoriously easy to care for and are an excellent option for those who haven’t cared for a plant before. The soil is a key part of easy care—the wrong soil will make your snake plant challenging to care for in just a matter of weeks!

Our Snake Plant Potting Soil is made up of coconut coir, pine bark chips, perlite, and sand. We chose these materials because it drains quickly and won’t hold onto too much water, which is essential for these subtropical desert natives!

The soil doesn’t contain fertilizer, is free of chemicals, and is safe for any snake plant variety, including popular choices like Laurentii, Black Coral, and Sansevieria zeylanica.

The Snake Plant Soil is made up of chunky materials – useful for soil aeration.

How to Repot Snake Plants Using Perfect Plants Soil

Our potting soil for snake plants is ready to use right out of the bag. Fill up your container enough so that the top of the snake plant’s root ball is level with the top of the container. Place the snake plant in the center of the container and fill in the space with more Snake Plant Soil. Don’t pack it in tightly but do make sure there’s enough soil around the root ball. Water the plant and fill in gaps where the soil settled.

We put our Organic Snake Plant Soil in resealable bags so you can use the soil when you’re ready. If you don’t use all of it, you can keep it safe in the bag until you need it.

We don’t include any fertilizer in our Snake Plant Soil type. We recommend using our Liquid Snake Plant Fertilizer every time you water your plant to make sure it receives the nutrients it needs to grow quickly and develop vibrant color.

Why Organic Snake Plant Soil Is the Best Choice

A common misconception among beginning plant enthusiasts is that any old dirt will work. That’s not the case, as many beginners quickly find out! Snake plants are native to subtropical deserts and not containers in the corner of a house. It’s important to mimic its natural habitat the best you can so it can grow the way it adapted.

Snake plants naturally grow in rocky, dry areas where they’re used to low levels of light and rain. They store water in their leaves, so they don’t need to be watered frequently. They have shallow root systems like other succulents, so frequently watering them can cause them to develop root rot and die. They need to dry out between waterings, so they don’t absorb too much water.

Our Snake Plant Repotting Soil mimics the rocky ground they’re used to. The sand, pine bark, perlite, and coconut coir allow excess water to drain through it quickly. The chunks of bark and perlite create airflow in the soil so the roots can receive oxygen and easily push through the soil. This light and airy soil that won’t hold much water are crucial for a happy snake plant. Using water retaining soil will soon have your plant in the trash!

good hose
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
I installed it about 2 weeks ago, after reading negative reviews, I was prepared for the worse. I did as instructed, kept the thermostat sensor next to the water source and plugged both ends, however the middle of the body of the house was lightly still coiled. When I tried, the water was leaking from under the insulation, where connected to the water source, just as I saw it in the negative reviews. Then I remembered, the instruction clearly say, the house must be uncoiled, so I disconnected, and stretched it out completely in a straight line taking out any kinks, then I took the ends and plugged them in the outlet and inlet. Tested it again and NO LEAK, it works perfectly. That night, it was 25F degrees, the hose was warm to the touch and no leak (the pressure in my sink faucet doubled, I suppose my old hose was not as efficient as new one, etc...). So, it works. I must say, that the instructions, indicate that the heating element turns on below 50F degrees, my hose. turns on when it it is below 35F roughly, which is fine.

A company that stands behind its product
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot
I bought one of these hoses at the end of January and it worked great right off the bat. However, fast forward to beginning of this month and the hose itself had failed, leaking water. I was out of Amazon's warranty window, so reached out to Camco directly for guidance on how to get it replaced. Fast forward a week and there's a brand new replacement hose delivered right to my door. Easy communication, fast turnaround and no questions asked (granted, the photos I provided were pretty clear as to the issue). So sure, its not ideal that the first one failed but in a world where it can be difficult to find a reliable brand - I feel very secure working with these guys and they earned my confidence. Hose works great btw. No issues with the connections leaking, water quality, or temperature. This is the one I'd buy again if/when I have to.

Great idea, but the quality control..
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
*TLDR, Too Long Didn't Read* Do Not waste your money. Failed right out of box. Leaked at above freezing temps With upstream pressure regulator. Did not test the heating feature due to the hose leaking from under the insulation sleeve somewhere. Very disappointed. Build your own or insulate well. If you do choose to take a gamble with this item then Thoroughly test it as soon as it arrives and take pics/ video. Would share the video but it won't upload correctly, (not too tech savvy), but I know plumbing, mechanical, etc. The long review: Other reviews have mentioned the hose leaking or failing Even with pressure regulators (which we use and replace regularly) - this is factual. Failed on first hookup Before it reached the freezing temps. Please Do Not Buy this sub par constructed item. It's a shame really since we have bought a lot of Camco branded items over the years. Our unit seemed ok out of the box (bought on sale weeks before the cold season and didn't need it til about 6 days after the return window closed). I should have tested as soon as it arrived but Optimistically Trusted with the 'name brand' mindset. Amazon was courteous, but did not do anything for us except refer us to Camco to try to get them to replace the defective hose. Take our hard learned lesson and many others and Do Not buy these products. Either research youtube for making one from scratch yourself or over insulate your water lines/ hoses and set everything to drip during sub freezing temps (mostly applying to full time rvers or camping in colder climates). We bought the 1in diameter 1/2 in thick 6ft foam pipe insulation (about R2 insul value), foil backed fiberglass pipe insulation (R6 insul value), and then waterproofed with an outer sheath of reflectix and zip ties from lowe's and have had no issues down to 18 degrees with lower wind chills (installed on the fresh water hose, pressure regulator, and water in line filter from spigot post to camper and also wrapped the spigot for good measure). Our rig is 4 season/ belly insulation and sheet metal bottom no skirt. **Invest in the two way hose splitter off the spigot, add quick disconnects, then a "Freeze Miser" or similar product** It will automatically open and drip before it reaches freezing temps to prevent the water line from freezing. Easy to unbox, easy to install (like a regular hose), Only After testing for leaking or defects plug into appropriate safe and rated outlet. Not super heavy (25ft). Keeps a semi coiled memory after unboxing but seems to relax and become somewhat flexible. Nice color. Looks quality at first glance (even though several reviewers like us have had defective units).

Highly recommended
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
I’ve been using this hose for several years now. Plug it in and it heats the hose whenever the temperature drops to 40 or less. My hose has made it through several freezes and works 24/7 with no problems. I will buy another when the times comes.

BOUGHT 2 AND BOTH TERRIBLE
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot, Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot
I bought two of these products 6 months apart from each other (march 2024 and October 2024) both brand new out of the box leaked from this hose connection fitting and is not fixable by replacing the standard hose gasket. Thought maybe it was just the first one was just a dud. It was not, the 2nd one was exactly the same and leaked out of BOTH connection fittings aswell. Yes i tried new gaskets, thread tape / dope, trying to tighten it a bit more, pressure reducer down to abt 35 psi. None of which worked. This product has potential of being good but they used such a low quality connection that it ruins the whole thing. Havent gotten to the point where Ive used it below freezing for more than 1 night so I cant comment on the freeze proofness of it. Tested it with an electrical meter and it uses 690W when plugged in and below the temp rating. I ended up having to repair the hose myself because I couldnt order a chinese brand one instead without running out of time before freezing temps (photographed repair of what is necessary for this to funtion propertly out of the box) but for the price point this hose is at I expect it to last at least 2 years without issues at least, I especially DO NOT expect it to leak being brand new out of the box. If you are going to do the repair you have to carefully cut the insulated sleeve back a few inches without cutting the hose or heated wire and then cut the original hose connector off. At that point you can use pretty much any hose repair threaded connector with a hefty hose clamp nice and tight (dont strip the hose clamp threads though). After spending another 15 min on the repair and $10 in parts you will then have a functional hose for at least 1 week. We'll see how long it lasts now.
