The Patagonia Level 9 PCU (Field Wear) is one of the best garments in it's realm. Patagonia combat pants have seen extensive use throughout the second half of the GWOT with various SOF units. Made of 50/50 NYCO, these are one of the best combat pants still on the market that are the industries best-worst kept secret. Comfort, rugged, and versatile is the best way to describe Patagonia’s Level 9 Combat pant. From the bar button fly and comfort waistband to the gusseted crotch and max load carriage pockets, you are getting a do-it-all no frills pant. The level 9 Temperate pant accommodates the VIKP knee pad system which are SOLD SEPERATELY. Many SOF units were not a fan of the knee pad design and chose to wear no pads at all or wear knee pads over top. Constructed from 50/50 NYCO, it meets the no melt/no drip requirement of the US Military.

  • Adjustable ankle gathers with color matched Velcro
  • 2 Main Cargo Pockets, 2 front thigh pockets (dip pockets), 2 Ankle pockets, 2 standard hand pockets with mesh drainage.
  • Oversized Belt Loops for riggers belts

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
