Sizes XS-3XL.

Folkwear's Sporty Forties' Dress and Sweater patterns are classic examples of the ingenuity of the 1940s fashion designers. They faced fabric shortages, government regulations, and the perennial desire of women to still look their best even in wartime.

There was a sense of patriotism, even in fashion. The government asked designers not to use unnecessary amounts of fabric, not to make extreme changes, and not to indulge in excessive trimming. The British Board of Trade conceived of "utility clothes", which were to be simple, practical, agreeable to look at, and inexpensive. The clever results are a tribute to the designer's art. Clean simple lines and fine tailoring techniques contribute to the look that is still appreciated as classic today.

Our Sporty Forties' Dress sewing pattern is a shirtwaist, buttoning all the way to just-below-the-knee hem. The bodice softly pleats from the shoulder seams and into the waistband. Both long (View B) and short sleeved versions (View A) have pleating detail at the shoulder. The skirt sports knife pleats in the front allowing freedom of movement. Two breast pockets complete the dress.

To compliment this dress, we offer the Sporty Forties' Sweater included in this pattern, with complete knitting instructions for this cardigan. The long-sleeved sweater buttons up the front and has a shawl collar. Body and sleeves are knit in a modified basket stitch; the waistband uses stockinette. The sweater pattern can be purchased separately here, but is included in this pattern.

Suggested fabrics:
Dress: Crisp linen or linen-like synthetics or blends, medium-weight cottons or blends, medium-weight rayon, silks, and silk noil.
Sweater:  wool, wool blends (135-150 yards/50g skeins) or equivalent; gauge: 24sts/4" on no.7 needles.

Cute Omegaverse story
Format: Kindle
3.75 stars and 2 for spice. Adorable Omegaverse story about a wedding planner who has to go to a small town to plan a wedding for a movie star. While there, she meets her pack. This covers her struggles of not living there but trying to keep her relationship going with her 3 Alphas. It's a quick read and cute, so I recommend it for people who like light-hearted RH stories.

real good
Format: Kindle
This was a solid read for the ABO universe. The characters are great. The smut scenes were well written. And the town is so cute I want to go there. It didn’t have much character development it just felt like I was getting to the characters as they were getting to know each other.

So sweet
Format: Kindle
It’s so unexpectedly sweet that it sneaks up on you. Each character is so unique and charming. I love the openness and honesty among their pack. It really blows me away how wonderful this omegaverse trope plays out. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Needs editing
Format: Kindle
Cute storyline and promising characters, but the lack of editing is painful to read. I would love to read an edited version.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.
