This 1959 L9 (L=1950s, 9 = '59) Bulova dress watch is a perfect example of that spirit.
Housed in a 14K yellow gold case measuring 33mm, the watch immediately stands out thanks to its sharply sculpted angular lugs, giving the otherwise classic round case a bold, almost modernist profile. There’s a hint of WPA-era Depression Modern design in the geometry — clean lines, purposeful shapes, and just enough flourish to keep things interesting.
The dial is equally compelling. Rendered in a soft cream tone with a textured inner ring, it features large, stylized applied 'dart' markers that catch the light beautifully.
