A totally breathtaking and highly coveted Christian Dior midnight navy blue silk bias-cut slip gown dating back to John Galliano's epic spring/summer 1998 collection. These early examples of his work are very collectable and are becoming incredibly hard to find. John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in often surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. This archival Dior gown is everything you look for in Galliano fashion. The fabric itself is sensational; an ultra flattering mid-weight stretch silk that hugs the body perfectly. One side has a matte finish while the other is more glossy and the use of both sides is truly magnificent. I love the unique detachable draped front bodice which flows into a slight off-shoulder tie design effortlessly. The sculpted bias-cut skirting skims the hips while creating a stunning hourglass shape. We can't ignore his statement side covered buttons which is such a nod to 1930's fashion.
