About Talavera Pottery: Mexican Talavera has a long rich history. It is named after a village in Spain called "Talavera de la Reina". The Spanish had knowledge of ceramics from Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia and was later refined by the Italian Renaissance and artisans from the Orient. After a period of time, the colonists of Spain brought their ceramics skills to Mexico which was combined with the unique style of Aztecs, Mayans, and other indigenous cultures. Talavera Pottery is known for its vibrant colors and vivid patterns which makes the creativity limitless. Although some pieces may look similar, hand painted talavera is never identical. This is not a cause of concern since each item brings its own character to your garden or home decor. Our Talavera is authentically Mexican, and our artisans skills are passed down from generations to generations making our items beautifully unique and professional. Each item is imported from Mexico.
