This is a beauty! Othonna capensis ‘Ruby Necklace’ is a gorgeous hanging plant with red and purple coloration. It turns even more ruby-colored with increased sun exposure.

This string succulent is a colorful spiller succulents for hanging baskets, terrariums or arrangements. Does well and gets more ruby coloration with full sun exposure. Make sure to water when soil is dry to the touch or the 'rubies' look deflated.

You will receive rooted starters of Othonna capensis as pictured or similar. This plant ships bare root without the pot.

Othonna capensis is an easy-care succulent that can tolerate drought and full-sun conditions. It will grow long strings if planted in a hanging pot, and will crawl like a ground cover if planted in the ground. This plant is particulary stunning when planted to hang over rocks or walls, or to spill down a hill. 

USDA Zone: 9-11

Thrives in full sun to some part shade.

Planting and Care:
Plant in well-draining soil and wait a week or more before watering regularly (signs of new growth is a good time to start watering). Do not overwater. Soil should always be dry before next next watering.

Peak growth season: Spring /Fall
Dormant: Winter
Propagation: Propagate from cuttings during growth season, or by seed.

This is an enjoyable, lightweight story, perfect for middle school students. The child I bought it for is from a different culture than that depicted, and for her it was a bridge-builder in terms of helping to find commonalities and differences. It was a fun experience--effortless learning, the best kind! For others, it may be useful to see themselves reflected in the young heroine, but I can't speak to whether they will find the mirror accurate. For my reader, the conflict felt real and relatable - who hasn't experienced feeling different and excluded? And she was captured beginning to end.

excellent middle-grade novel

This story of a muslim girl in the US and her school friends and ordinary dramas is a great addition to school libraries or public libraries and also for girl readers 9-12 or so. It's wonderful that we are getting novels about people from other faiths that are aimed at mainstream readers. It is so important for kids to read books about people from other backgrounds as well as for those from those backgrounds to have books in which they see themselves reflected. Well done!

enjoyable cozy urban fantasy

Getting kidnapped by her cult-leader grandfather and held chained for other a month is not a pleasant experience. But when Vedalia's (Vel) aunt comes and rescues her, things start to take a turn for the better. Especially when said aunt is a vampire, who is married to a witch, and they're giving her a new start at life. This story is very much a cozy urban fantasy. There is actions and threats (as her grandfather doesn't know when to give up), but not a lot of angst (not a bad thing at all in my opinion ^^). The focus of the story is very much on Vel as she adapts to life with her new found family, and makes new friends. There is romance in the story, and it's cute - they make an adorable couple. But there is a lot more going on as well. It is an enjoyable read that is well written and paced well, and I definitely appreciate the queer representation that is in the story. The main threat is wrapped up well, and I certainly would be interested in seeing more of the characters, and Vel growing more into what she has been given. Happily devoured and I look forward to reading more by her.
